Coincheck App Achieves No.1 in Downloads in Japan for Seven Consecutive Years
Coincheck's app was Japan's most-downloaded crypto trading app in 2025, its seventh consecutive year at No. 1; the firm also highlighted new partnerships and institutional services.
Coincheck's crypto asset trading app was the most-downloaded domestic crypto trading app in Japan in 2025, marking the seventh consecutive year it has held the No. 1 spot, the company said. Data from AppTweak shows the Coincheck App has ranked first among domestic crypto asset trading apps every year since 2019.
In a review of second-half 2025 activity, Coincheck highlighted a business partnership with Melcoin, signed on August 5, 2025, aimed at expanding Japan's crypto asset market. As a first step, the two companies plan to enable new account openings with Coincheck and crypto asset trading through Melcoin's mediation within the crypto asset trading service on Mercari, targeting the first half of 2026. If realized, Mercari users would be able to trade crypto assets handled by Coincheck through the marketplace's trading service.
The firm also expanded its institutional offering. Coincheck Prime, its service for enterprise clients and institutional investors, and Next Finance Tech are jointly supporting corporate crypto treasury businesses. Next Finance Tech is responsible for strategic planning and operation management, while Coincheck Prime handles investment execution and governance support. The two companies described it as one-stop support covering strategy development, trade execution, crypto asset management, and data on crypto holdings for investor disclosures.
Recognition in global rankings
Coincheck was also named the No. 1 crypto asset app in Japan in Sensor Tower's report '2025 Investment & Asset Management App Market and Advertising Trends' in the 'Regional Crypto App Leaders' category. The ranking put Coincheck alongside Coinbase from the U.S. and UPbit, according to the announcement.
Coincheck, based in Tokyo, operates Japan's No. 1 cryptocurrency trading service by app downloads for individual users, along with Coincheck Prime and Coincheck Partners, which supports crypto-related businesses. It is part of Monex Group and Coincheck Group N.V., which is listed on Nasdaq.
