Coinbase Powers Spiko’s Mutual Fund with Stablecoin Funding

Coinbase is providing the infrastructure for Spiko's mutual fund to accept stablecoin funding, linking digital asset payments to a traditional fund vehicle.

Coinbase is powering Spiko's mutual fund with stablecoin funding, the latest example of crypto payment infrastructure being connected to a traditional investment product.

The arrangement allows Spiko's mutual fund to be funded using stablecoins through Coinbase's infrastructure, enabling investors to move from digital assets into the fund without first converting to fiat. The move underscores how stablecoin rails are increasingly being used for capital flows into regulated fund structures, not just for trading.

Spiko operates in the asset management space, and the integration is designed to make participation in its mutual fund more efficient and accessible. By tapping Coinbase's payment and custody capabilities, the fund can accept stablecoin subscriptions while maintaining the mechanics of a conventional fund.

The announcement adds to a wave of recent Coinbase developments, including a new matching engine for its derivatives platform, expanded derivatives access for UK professional investors, and Financial Services Permission from Abu Dhabi's FSRA to establish an international tokenization hub. Coinbase has also rolled out 24/5 US stock trading for UK users.

With the Spiko integration, Coinbase extends its stablecoin infrastructure beyond exchange trading into fund subscriptions, potentially broadening the reach of both crypto-driven payments and traditional money market funds.
