Coinbase Opens Stock Trading to Everyone in the US, Partners with Yahoo Finance to Power Discovery

Coinbase has made stock and ETF trading available to all U.S. customers, with 24/5 access, zero commissions, and a Yahoo Finance partnership for research-to-trade workflow.

Coinbase has opened stock and ETF trading to all customers in the United States, allowing users to buy, sell and manage traditional securities alongside their crypto holdings in one app. The exchange said the service is available 24 hours a day, five days a week with zero commission, and supports fractional shares starting at $1.

Trades can be funded instantly with USD or USDC, and Coinbase One members earn uncapped rewards on their USDC trading balance. Clearing, custody and execution for the new offering are handled through Apex Fintech Solutions, which Coinbase integrated to support the unified trading experience.

As part of the rollout, Coinbase is partnering with Yahoo Finance, which the company says attracts more than 150 million monthly visitors. The integration lets Yahoo Finance users move from researching an asset on the site to executing a trade on Coinbase with a single click. Yahoo Finance will also incorporate real-time Coinbase data to help users discover and monitor assets, and Yahoo Finance users can access a free one-month trial of Coinbase One Basic.

Coinbase said it is starting with leading equities and plans to expand 24/5 trading to thousands more stocks in the coming weeks. This spring, the company intends to broaden availability of stock perpetuals for traders outside the U.S., offering 24/7 capital-efficient exposure to U.S. equities. Those products will be offered by Coinbase Bermuda Ltd., subject to regulatory approval, and will not be available to U.S. persons.

The company also reiterated plans to introduce tokenized stocks in the future, describing the move as a step toward an always-on market. Coinbase said that could eventually enable users to trade globally, use equity holdings as onchain collateral and make instant payments backed by stock value.

Securities are offered by Coinbase Capital Markets Corp., a FINRA and SIPC member, while digital asset services are provided by Coinbase Inc. Digital assets are not covered by SIPC protection. Extended-hours trading is available for eligible symbols, with up to 6,000 securities initially available and expectations of more than 8,000 within weeks.
