Blackwell Global UK Loss Jumps Tenfold Despite Cost Cuts

Blackwell Global Investments (UK) Limited posted a £172,449 operating loss for the year to 31 March 2026, up from £21,074, as turnover fell 36.6% despite a 16.8% cut in administrative expenses.

Blackwell Global Investments (UK) Limited reported an operating loss of £172,449 for the financial year ended 31 March 2026, nearly ten times the £21,074 recorded a year earlier, according to its latest annual report and financial statements. Loss before tax and the loss for the financial year both reached £172,490, compared with £17,378 in FY2025.

The widening deficit came even as the FCA-regulated broker continued to cut costs. Administrative expenses fell 16.8% to £686,563 from £824,943, helped by lower directors' remuneration — down 24% to £114,000 — and reduced audit fees. Staff costs, however, edged up 1.2% to £321,434.

Turnover declined 36.6% to £514,114 from £810,667, extending the contraction reported the previous year. The directors attributed the continued loss to the sharper revenue fall and an unfavourable year-on-year swing in foreign exchange differences, which outweighed the expense savings. Cash and cash equivalents dropped 72.5% to £90,708 at the end of March 2026 from £329,653 a year earlier.

Going concern backed by Bahamas parent

The directors said the company could continue operating for at least 12 months from approval of the accounts, citing a positive cash position at the reporting date that was maintained afterwards, as well as support from Blackwell Global Investments Bahamas where necessary.

The results cover the first full year of the UK entity's post-retail strategy. After a strategic review, the firm concluded that the regulatory and competitive environment for retail business was not worth pursuing, and applied to the Financial Conduct Authority for a variation of permission at the start of 2025, which it received in June 2025. Since then it has targeted only individuals and corporates that qualify as professional investors.

Its stated model centres on introducing professional clients with complex trading needs to counterparties able to provide the required service, alongside bespoke trading solutions through order reception and transmission. During the year, the principal activity involved offering access to forex, indices, cryptocurrencies and commodities through introductions to third-party regulated trading venues.
