Bittensor subnet tokens are coming to Kraken

Kraken has completed a native integration of Bittensor's dynamic TAO (dTAO) system and announced plans to list subnet tokens in the near future. The exchange said the move allows users to trade tokens tied to specific subnets within the Bittensor ecosystem.

Bittensor is a decentralized protocol that incentivizes the production of machine intelligence. Instead of a single company developing a large AI model behind closed doors, Bittensor operates as an open network where independent participants compete to deliver valuable outputs — such as text generation, data scraping, price prediction, or protein folding — and are rewarded in TAO based on the usefulness of their work.

dTAO, short for dynamic TAO, enables each Bittensor subnet to issue its own token. The Bittensor network consists of independent subnets, each functioning as its own market for a specific digital commodity, such as machine intelligence, model training, data, or computing power. Under dTAO, every subnet has its own token, while TAO remains the base asset that facilitates value flow across the whole network.

Kraken noted that subnet tokens allow holders to engage directly with an individual subnet's economy, including its own market and emissions. Staking is central to the dTAO model: subnet tokens can be staked to validators securing each subnet, and stakers share in the emissions generated by subnet activity.
