Bitget Private Copy Trading Turns Traders Into Businesses

Bitget launched Private Copy Trading on its CFD platform, letting professional traders run invitation-only groups and control who follows their strategies.

Bitget has introduced Private Copy Trading on its CFD platform, a feature that lets professional traders create invitation-only copy trading groups instead of publishing their strategies to all users. The move marks a shift in how the exchange supports strategy providers, giving them more control over their audiences while keeping public copy trading available alongside the new private option.

With the update, traders can distribute multiple invitation links, set limits on follower numbers, track where new users come from, and remove participants selectively. This allows experienced traders to maintain a public track record while reserving premium strategies for chosen followers or paying community members.

From leaderboards to creator infrastructure

The feature signals a broader change in retail trading: successful traders are increasingly behaving like content creators running subscription-based communities rather than simply competing on public performance rankings. Many have already built large audiences on Telegram, Discord, X, YouTube, and other platforms, and their value now extends beyond their trading results.

Private copy trading fits into that creator-economy model. Traders can create separate invitation links for different communities, measure which marketing channels bring in new clients, and offer exclusive access to high-value followers. At the same time, it addresses intellectual property concerns by reducing the risk of strategies being reverse engineered by outsiders.

Gracy Chen, Chief Executive Officer of Bitget, said the feature represents another stage in the evolution of copy trading. “As leaders of crypto copy trading, we’ve been one of the few players to evolve this segment,” she said. “Another tier added to this is private copy trading, providing professional traders with more flexibility in sharing strategies.”

The move also reflects growing competition among platforms to attract influential traders who can bring their own audiences. Copy trading, once a simple tool for mirroring portfolios, is increasingly becoming infrastructure for community building and monetization across both crypto and traditional retail brokerages.
