Binance adds gold and silver options on ADGM venue

Binance has introduced European-style, USDT-settled options on gold and silver via its ADGM-regulated exchange Nest Exchange, with retail users limited to buying options.

Binance has expanded its traditional-asset derivatives lineup with European-style options on gold and silver, offered through Nest Exchange Limited, its Recognised Investment Exchange regulated by Abu Dhabi Global Market. The contracts settle in USDT and tap into the same account balances used for crypto trading.

The launch builds on the XAUUSDT and XAGUSDT perpetual futures that Binance listed through the same entity in January. Shunyet Jan, Binance's head of exchange and trading, cited demand for those perpetuals and gold's record-breaking rally as key reasons for adding options.

Who can trade

Retail users can only buy calls and puts, capping maximum loss at the premium paid and eliminating liquidation risk. Eligible institutions and liquidity providers, by contrast, may write options and collect premiums. Binance has said it could permit limited retail writing later under stricter conditions.

Trading hours run from Sunday 18:00 ET to Friday 17:00 ET, with a daily one-hour break between 17:00 and 18:00 ET. That schedule follows the underlying metals markets rather than the round-the-clock model of Binance's commodity perpetuals.

The options reference a composite benchmark built from multiple third-party price feeds, not physical bullion, and settle in USDT with no metal delivery. Binance labels the product as a crypto first, but the record is more nuanced: Bybit listed European-style, USDT-settled options on Tether Gold in June 2026, and smaller venues have offered XAUT options since November 2024. What appears genuinely new is silver coverage and the delivery of commodity options through an ADGM Recognised Investment Exchange rather than an offshore derivatives platform.

Binance already dominates the category, processing $53.8bn in TradFi equity perpetuals in June, nearly 80% of that market. The options launch is part of a broader move by large venues into traditional-asset exposure, with the restriction on who can sell options marking a key difference for a regulated venue.
