AvaTrade Picks Brokerage and Trading Infrastructure Veteran as CFO

Jeremy Schlachter has joined AvaTrade as Chief Financial Officer, succeeding Sari Hemmendinger after roughly 11 years. The broker is weighing a potential acquisition and has closed its Polish branch.

AvaTrade has appointed Jeremy Schlachter as its new Chief Financial Officer, filling a role left by Sari Hemmendinger, who spent about 11 years at the broker. Schlachter announced the move in a LinkedIn post on Sunday, saying he would work with the team to support AvaTrade's "continued growth and ambitions." Hemmendinger joined the company as Vice President of Finance before rising to Group CFO.

Schlachter left the same position at The NAGA Group in August, having joined the listed fintech's management team in 2025. He served as CFO during NAGA's integration of CAPEX.com and its efforts to reduce operating costs. Before NAGA, he was Group CFO of Finalto, the B2B liquidity and trading technology provider previously owned by Playtech. He had earlier been Vice President of Finance at Playtech and later CFO of gaming technology company Skywind Group.

Acquisition plans and European footprint

AvaTrade has not identified Schlachter's immediate priorities. His background gives the broker a finance executive familiar with the economics of retail brokerage, institutional trading infrastructure and businesses undergoing corporate transformation.

The appointment comes as AvaTrade considers expansion through a potential acquisition while adjusting parts of its European operations. In June, Finance Magnates reported that AvaTrade had submitted an offer to acquire Stratos, the Jefferies-owned operator of the FXCM and Tradu brands, with a cryptocurrency exchange reportedly submitting a competing bid. No transaction has been announced.

More recently, AvaTrade decided to close its Polish branch almost six years after opening the local office. Polish clients and partners are expected to remain supported through the broker's international operations. Schlachter's appointment brings experience in acquisitions, business integration and trading infrastructure to the finance function as AvaTrade weighs its next phase of expansion.
