Avanza Bank Holding AB (publ): Interim Report January-June 2026

Avanza Bank reported a 31% increase in operating profit for Q2 2026 to SEK 928 million, driven by a 26% rise in operating income to SEK 1,334 million. CEO Gustaf Unger highlighted strong net inflows and record fund purchases.

Avanza Bank Holding AB (publ) posted a 31% year-on-year increase in operating profit for the second quarter of 2026, reaching SEK 928 million. The Swedish digital savings and investment platform attributed the growth to a 26% boost in operating income, which climbed to SEK 1,334 million, supported by higher net currency-related income, net interest income, net brokerage income and net fund commissions.

Profit for the period rose 33% to SEK 795 million, while earnings per share before dilution increased 30% to SEK 4.97. The operating margin remained strong at 70% in the quarter, compared with 69% a year earlier.

“We deliver yet another record quarter, thereby leaving behind a historically strong first half year – with good progress across our strategic priorities,” said CEO Gustaf Unger. He noted that despite ongoing geopolitical uncertainty, risk appetite had strengthened and the Swedish economy showed signs of acceleration. “We have seen a sharp increase in inflows into the fund market in Sweden, and among our customers, the highest net purchases of funds ever during a single quarter.”

Operating expenses rose 15% to SEK 406 million, driven mainly by higher personnel costs and other expenses. SEK 3 million related to international expansion was expensed during the quarter. Excluding that expansion, the full-year cost increase is estimated at 9%, consistent with previous guidance. A total of SEK 50 million attributable to the international expansion is expected to affect the 2026 cost base.

Strategic developments

During the quarter, Avanza announced its planned expansion into Denmark, with a launch targeted for the second half of 2027. The company also launched Avanza Sweden, a passively managed, broad index fund covering 99% of the Stockholm Stock Exchange’s market value.

Avanza acted as Joint Global Coordinator/Joint Bookrunner in three directed share issues, enabling private investors to participate through accelerated bookbuilding – a process traditionally reserved for institutional investors. The firm was again ranked as one of Sweden's most reputable companies and the country's most reputable bank in Verian's annual Reputation Index.

Net inflows for the quarter totaled SEK 18.9 billion, compared with SEK 10.9 billion in Q2 2025. Customer numbers reached 2,338,300, up 8% year-on-year. Total savings capital stood at SEK 1,208.3 billion at the end of June, a 22% increase from a year earlier.

A webcast presentation will be held on 14 July 2026 at 10:00 CEST with CEO Gustaf Unger and CFO Jonas Svärling.
