Euro Extends Losses Against US Dollar as Fed Hike Bets Firm

The euro continued its decline against the US dollar on Wednesday, falling 0.25% to around 1.1350 as expectations for further Federal Reserve rate hikes strengthened.

EURUSD

The euro (EUR) weakened against the US dollar (USD) for a third consecutive trading session on Wednesday, slipping 0.25% to trade near 1.1350 during European hours.

Pressure on the euro came as markets priced in a higher likelihood of further rate increases by the Federal Reserve, reinforcing dollar strength. The pair extended its downward trend amid the divergent monetary policy outlook between the Fed and the European Central Bank.

No additional economic data or specific comments were cited in the move, which appeared driven by speculators adjusting positions ahead of the Fed’s next policy decision.
