China's gross domestic product expanded 4.3% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics. This fell short of the 4.5% consensus estimate and marked a deceleration from the 5.0% growth recorded in the first quarter.
The miss may add to pressure on policymakers to introduce additional stimulus measures to support the world's second-largest economy. The release comes amid ongoing concerns about domestic demand and external trade headwinds.
