According to BNY’s Geoff Yu, RBA Assistant Governor Sarah Hunter commented on Australia’s consumer price data, noting the headline CPI came in a touch below forecasts largely because of lower fuel costs. However, she stressed that underlying inflation is still running above the central bank’s 2–3% target, signaling the RBA remains cautious on policy easing.
