BoE Holds at 3.75%, Hawkish Rhetoric Signals Tighter Conditions Ahead

The Bank of England kept its Bank Rate at 3.75% with a 6-3 vote, as slightly more hawkish rhetoric from policymakers suggests tighter financial conditions may persist, supporting a hold in September, according to TD Securities.

GBPUSD

The Bank of England held its key rate at 3.75% following its latest policy meeting, with a 6-3 split among Monetary Policy Committee members. That was slightly more hawkish than previous votes, though policymakers remained comfortable with existing market pricing.

TD Securities strategists highlighted that tighter financial conditions support the case for a September rate hold. The BoE’s statement signalled a measured approach as inflation data and wage growth remain under scrutiny.

  • Rate: 3.75%
  • Vote: 6-3
  • Hawkish tilt: Slightly more than before
