WTI Tumbles Below $82.50 as US-Iran Tensions Ease

WTI crude opened sharply lower Monday, falling over 7% to around $82.50 as the US and Iran halted strikes over the weekend, raising hopes for diplomacy.

WTI

WTI crude oil opened the Monday Asian session with a bearish gap, tumbling more than 7% to near $82.50 a barrel.

The sell-off came after the United States and Iran reportedly paused military strikes over the weekend, dialing back tensions that had flared over the prior two weeks.

Market participants interpreted the halt as opening a path for potential diplomatic engagement, reducing immediate risks to oil supply routes.
