Revolut Trading Secures FCA Approval for Expanded Services

Revolut Trading Ltd has expanded its FCA permissions to cover principal dealing and investment management, enabling leveraged products, managed portfolios, and private wealth services on its platform.

Revolut Trading Ltd (RTL), the regulated brokerage arm of the fintech group Revolut, has secured an expanded license from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) that allows it to offer a wider range of investment services in the UK.

The so-called Variation of Permissions adds the ability to manage investments and deal as principal, moving beyond standard agency brokerage. With these new powers, RTL can now offer leveraged instruments, discretionary portfolio management, and private wealth solutions to retail investors, professional clients, and high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) – all within a single ecosystem.

RTL is simultaneously redesigning its trading model to introduce more competitive pricing alongside the broader product set. The company aims to serve multiple investor tiers under one roof, reducing the need for clients to use separate providers for basic trading, managed accounts, or private banking.

This regulatory upgrade follows Revolut’s recent launch of its UK bank and is part of the company’s broader push to challenge traditional investment firms. RTL also plans to incorporate artificial intelligence into its investment offering, with the goal of helping customers manage portfolios and make more informed financial decisions.

Victoria Laffey, head of operations at RTL, said the new permissions are “the missing piece” that allows the firm to combine investment, advisory, and portfolio management in one place. “Our mission has always been to remove the friction of fragmented financial services; and we can now put sophisticated wealth management products and tools in the hands of every type of investor,” she added.
