Morning star reversal graded with a stochastic oversold check

After a visible decline, score the morning star by real body length, star candle indecision, isolating gaps, and a third close that reclaims the first body's midpoint. An oversold stochastic reading then locates that reversal hypothesis so it can be kept or discarded on any chart scale.

  • After a visible downtrend, the morning star is a three-session sequence: a long dark real body, a lower-gapping star candle with a small range, and a later light real body.
  • Grade the pattern as stronger when the first and third real bodies are longer, the star shows more indecision, and a gap isolates the star. Gaps on both sides are the more complete form.
  • Treat the sequence as confirmed only after the third-close test, when the third candle closes above the midpoint of the first dark body.
  • An oversold context on a stochastic oscillator is supporting location. The reversal reading is described as more probable there, but the third close remains the decisive check.

Score the sequence after a decline

The morning star is defined as a three-session sequence that forms after a visible downtrend: a long dark real body, a lower-gapping star candle with a small range, and a subsequent light real body.

The first real body records the existing selling. The star candle is the middle session, whose small trading range is read as hesitation rather than continued selling. The later light real body is the attempted handoff.

What makes a stronger morning star

The pattern is graded as stronger when the first and third real bodies are longer, the star candle shows greater indecision, and a gap isolates the star from the first session.

A gap on both sides of the star is presented as a more complete form than a single gap into the star. That empty space is treated as a cleaner isolation of the indecision bar.

The third-close test

The instructional figure requires the third candle to close above the midpoint of the first dark body. That third-close test is the check used before the sequence is treated as confirmed.

The third session's close is treated as the decisive element of the reversal reading. Until that close occurs, the sequence is not treated as complete.

Oversold context on the case charts

A daily index chart marks morning-star formations at two labeled lows while a stochastic oscillator reading is in oversold territory. The case includes a three-session example and later repeats about a week afterward.

A daily single-stock chart is shown forming a morning star in roughly the same calendar window as the index example.

The reversal reading is described as more probable when the three-candle sequence appears in oversold context identified by that separate oscillator. The oscillator marks supporting location. It is not treated as a standalone signal.

The same grades on any chart scale

The same visual sequence is presented as readable across instruments and sampling intervals, from a monthly index chart to a one-minute futures chart. Body length, star indecision, isolating gaps, and the third-close test are the parts that stay in view when the sampling interval changes.
