Zelensky: Russia missed 15 deadlines to capture Donetsk since 2022

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia has set and missed 15 separate deadlines since 2022 to capture the Donetsk region, with the latest target pushed to December 31, 2026.

President Zelensky said on Thursday that Russia has repeatedly failed to meet its own deadlines for seizing Ukraine's Donetsk region. According to him, Moscow's political leadership remains "obsessed" with capturing the Donbas and has set 15 different target dates since the start of the full-scale invasion.

Breaking down the deadlines by year, Zelensky noted five were set in 2022, two in 2023, two in 2024, three in 2025, and three more in 2026. The most recent target of December 31, 2026 was pushed back from an earlier date of March 31, 2026, and then from September 1.

Zelensky argued that if the war continues, Russia will likely be forced to postpone its timeline yet again. No comment from the Kremlin has been issued in response.
