Yemen FM-Designate: Frontline Firefights but No Offensive; Houthis Seek Iran Flights
Yemen’s foreign minister-designate says government and Houthi forces are exchanging fire along the front line, but no wider offensive has been launched. Houthis are demanding direct flights from Iran for support and supplies, while security measures are being readied to safeguard oil exports.
According to a statement by Yemeni Foreign Minister-designate Al-Zouba, government and Houthi forces are currently engaged in limited exchanges of fire along the front line. He clarified that no major offensive is underway at this stage.
Al-Zouba also indicated that the Houthis are seeking permission for direct flights from Iran to facilitate the flow of support and supplies. This demand appears to be a key point in the ongoing tensions.
Meanwhile, the minister noted that security preparations are being activated to protect Yemen’s oil exports, signaling concerns over potential disruptions to the country’s critical energy infrastructure.
