US consumer inflation concerns hit highest since March 2025

The share of Americans who see inflation as a greater risk than unemployment over the next year has risen to 38%, the highest since March 2025, according to a new survey. The two-month increase of 13 percentage points is the largest in at least two years.

A survey of US consumers shows that concerns about inflation are intensifying. About 38% of respondents now perceive inflation as a greater risk than unemployment over the next year—the highest share recorded since March 2025.

This figure has surged by 13 percentage points over the last two months, marking the largest two-month increase in at least two years. For comparison, 48% of consumers viewed inflation as a higher risk in July 2024.

Meanwhile, only about 5% see unemployment as a greater risk than inflation over the next year, the lowest reading in at least two years. The resulting gap between inflation and unemployment concern has widened to 33 percentage points, the largest since February 2025.
