SNB Keeps Rates Unchanged at 0.00%, Franc Under Pressure – BBH

The Swiss National Bank held its policy rate at 0.00% for the fourth consecutive meeting. Brown Brothers Harriman notes the neutral stance continues to weigh on the Swiss Franc.

The Swiss National Bank left its policy rate unchanged at 0.00% for the fourth consecutive meeting, according to Brown Brothers Harriman (BBH). The bank characterized the decision as neutral, maintaining its accommodative stance.

BBH analysts report that the SNB's continued neutrality is keeping the Swiss Franc under pressure. The central bank has refrained from tightening even as other major central banks raise rates, contributing to the franc's weakness against the dollar and euro.

The next SNB meeting is scheduled for March 2023, with markets watching for any shift in forward guidance.
