Russia's May Manufacturing PMI Rises to 48.8, Contraction Pace Eases

Russia's Manufacturing PMI improved to 48.8 in May from 48.1 in April, marking the smallest contraction in three months as production resumed growth despite a sharper fall in new orders, according to S&P Global.

Russia's Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) edged up to 48.8 in May from 48.1 in April, S&P Global reported. The reading indicates that the contraction in manufacturing activity slowed to its weakest pace in three months.

Production volumes returned to expansion territory during the month, providing a partial offset to a steeper decline in new orders. The data suggests that while the sector remains under pressure, the downward momentum is easing.

The survey is compiled by S&P Global and was published via Reuters (RTRS). The PMI remains below the 50.0 threshold that separates growth from contraction.
