Pound Sterling Rises on Soft US Data Despite Warsh's Hawkish Comments

The British Pound gained 0.14% on Wednesday, supported by softer US economic data even as Fed Chair Kevin Warsh struck a hawkish tone and ruled out forward guidance.

GBPUSD

The British Pound edged higher on Wednesday, gaining 0.14% against the US Dollar. The move came despite broad USD strength and hawkish remarks from Fed Chair Kevin Warsh, who reiterated that the central bank would not provide forward guidance. Warsh acknowledged that inflation remains too high.

Support for the pound came from softer-than-expected US economic data, which tempered expectations for aggressive Federal Reserve tightening. The currency pair traded in a narrow range as markets digested the conflicting signals.
