Nordea: Wide Yield Spreads Keep USD/JPY Elevated

Nordea expects USD/JPY to remain high as wide US–Japan yield differentials persist and the Bank of Japan stays very accommodative. Any gradual normalization by the BoJ is seen as too modest to materially weaken the yen.

USDJPY

Nordea analysts predict that USD/JPY will stay elevated, citing persistent wide yield differentials between the US and Japan. The Bank of Japan remains highly accommodative, which supports the pair's current levels.

While some gradual normalization of BoJ policy is anticipated, Nordea believes it will be insufficient to significantly strengthen the Japanese yen. The yield gap continues to favor the US dollar, keeping downward pressure on the yen.

A more substantial shift in BoJ policy would likely be needed to alter the current trajectory of USD/JPY.
