Iran Official: Strait of Hormuz Not Up for Negotiation

Ebrahim Azizi, head of Iran's National Security Commission, declared the Strait of Hormuz is sovereign Iranian waters and not open to foreign interference, emphasizing the final decision rests with Iran's people and military.

Ebrahim Azizi, the head of Iran's National Security Commission, issued a strong statement asserting Iran's control over the Strait of Hormuz. He rejected any external claims to the maritime route, saying it is not a 'personal casino' or a 'backyard for modern pirates.'

The official stressed that the strait lies within Iranian sovereign waters and that the ultimate authority over it belongs to the Iranian people and their armed forces. This rhetoric underscores Tehran's firm stance on its territorial rights in a strategically vital waterway for global oil shipments.

While no concrete action was announced, the statement reinforces Iran's position amid ongoing regional tensions. Markets may monitor for any escalation that could disrupt energy flows through the strait.
