Iran Former IRGC Commander Warns Strait of Hormuz Blockade Unacceptable

Mohsen Rezaei, a former IRGC commander and current military advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader, stated that Iran controls the Strait of Hormuz and will not tolerate a continued naval blockade, adding that escalation in Lebanon is also unacceptable.

Mohsen Rezaei, the former commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and currently a military advisor to Supreme Leader Khamenei, issued a stark warning regarding the Strait of Hormuz. He asserted that the waterway is under Iran's control and that Tehran will not allow a prolonged naval blockade. Rezaei also declared that escalation of tensions in Lebanon is unacceptable, stating that "the patience of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran has its limits."

The comments come amid heightened geopolitical risk in the Middle East, particularly concerning maritime security in one of the world's most critical oil transit chokepoints. Any disruption to traffic through the Strait of Hormuz could have significant implications for global energy supplies and, by extension, currency markets sensitive to oil price fluctuations.

Traders should monitor developments closely, as further rhetoric or actions could lead to increased volatility in oil-linked currencies and safe-haven assets.
