Ethereum Research Forum Proposes Redirecting Up to 10% of Staking Rewards to Fund Ecosystem

A new proposal on the Ethereum Research forum suggests a hard fork to allow validators to redirect up to 10% of their staking rewards to ecosystem funding, with mandatory participation if 51% approve a rate above zero.

ETH

A proposal titled "Validator Redirected Revenue" has been published on the Ethereum Research forum. The initiative would introduce a hard fork that permits redirecting up to 10% of staking rewards to finance the Ethereum ecosystem. If more than 51% of validators vote for a rate above 0%, the redirect becomes mandatory for all validators.

According to the authors' estimates, with 35–40 million ETH staked and an annual yield of 1.91%, validators currently receive roughly 700,000 ETH per year. Redirecting 5–10% of that amount would channel an additional 50,000–70,000 ETH annually to the ecosystem.
