Eli Lilly's Oral GLP-1 Foundayo Outperforms Oral Semaglutide in Diabetes Trials

Eli Lilly's oral GLP-1 drug Foundayo showed 57.1% greater A1C reduction and 73.6% greater weight loss versus oral semaglutide across three pivotal diabetes trials. FDA submission is targeted by end of Q2.

LLY

Eli Lilly announced positive results from three pivotal Phase 3 trials for its oral GLP-1 receptor agonist Foundayo (orforglipron). The drug demonstrated a 57.1% greater reduction in A1C levels and 73.6% greater weight loss compared to oral semaglutide at the 17.2 mg dose.

The safety profile of Foundayo was consistent with earlier studies, with no new safety signals identified. Eli Lilly plans to submit a New Drug Application to the U.S. FDA by the end of Q2.

These results position Foundayo as a potential leader in the oral GLP-1 market, which has seen intense competition among diabetes and obesity treatments.
