British Pound Wavers as Lebanon Ceasefire Reports Flip

GBP/USD seesawed after news of a Lebanon ceasefire agreement was followed by reports that Hezbollah rejected the plan. The pair traded at 1.3439 after bouncing off daily lows.

GBPUSD

The British Pound (GBP) initially rose more than 0.16% against the US Dollar (USD) on reports that Israel and Lebanon had agreed to a ceasefire. The rally pushed GBP/USD higher, but the gains were trimmed after subsequent headlines indicated Hezbollah rejected the proposed truce.

Cable (GBP/USD) traded around 1.3439 after recovering from earlier session lows. The conflicting reports added to volatility in the forex market during the New York session, with traders closely monitoring developments in the Middle East.

No further details on the ceasefire terms or official confirmations have been released at this time.
