Asian Markets Directionless; US-Iran Talks, China PMIs, BOJ Member in Focus
Asian trading was directionless on month- and quarter-end with US-Iran talks in Qatar, flat China PMIs for June, and a new BOJ board member viewed as reflationist.
Asian currency markets saw little conviction on Tuesday as traders approached the end of both the month and quarter. The lack of strong directional cues kept major pairs range-bound.
Key developments included talks between the US and Iran in Qatar, though it remains uncertain whether the negotiations will materially affect financial markets. China's manufacturing and non-manufacturing PMIs for June were broadly flat, offering no fresh impetus. Meanwhile, the Bank of Japan added a new board member, Sato, who is considered a reflationist, potentially signaling a continued accommodative policy stance.
