Rio Tinto Q2: Pilbara Iron Ore Output 83.5 MT, Copper Costs Guidance Lowered

Rio Tinto reported Q2 Pilbara iron ore production of 83.5 million tonnes and sales of 85.3 million tonnes. Copper production reached 213 kt, and the company lowered its 2026 copper C1 net unit cost guidance to 30-50 cents per pound.

Rio Tinto released its Q2 operational report, showing Pilbara iron ore production of 83.5 million tonnes (MT) and sales of 85.3 MT. Copper production totaled 213 kilotonnes (kt) for the quarter.

The miner also revised its 2026 copper C1 net unit cost guidance downward to a range of US 30 to 50 cents per pound. The company noted that operational impacts from the Middle East remain limited.
