Quantinuum and Rolls-Royce Launch Quantum Computing Project for Gas Turbine Design

Quantinuum and Rolls-Royce have started a multi-year collaboration to explore the use of quantum computers in gas turbine design, alongside Riverlane and the EPCC supercomputing center.

Quantinuum and Rolls-Royce have initiated a multi-year project to investigate the application of quantum computers in designing gas turbines. The partnership also includes Riverlane and the EPCC supercomputing center.

The team will test whether future fault-tolerant quantum systems can handle complex gas flow calculations in conjunction with supercomputers. Initial algorithm components will be run on Quantinuum's Helios quantum computer, with plans to scale them on upcoming systems named Sol and Apollo.
