Euro Edges Higher After Weak NFP Data Softens US Dollar

The euro gained against the US dollar following a disappointing June NFP report, which showed only 57,000 jobs added, missing market expectations.

EURUSD

The euro extended its gains against the US dollar, heading toward a weekly close in positive territory after June’s nonfarm payrolls report fell short of forecasts.

The US economy added just 57,000 jobs in June, well below market expectations, according to the report. The weaker-than-expected data weighed on the greenback, providing support for the euro.

Traders now assess whether the disappointing jobs number could influence the Federal Reserve’s policy path, with the euro looking to hold its weekly advance.
