China Politburo Meeting: Fiscal Execution in Focus, No Major Stimulus
China's July Politburo meeting acknowledged growth challenges but refrained from major new stimulus, focusing instead on accelerating fiscal spending and bond utilization for infrastructure projects.
TD Securities' Senior Asia Economist Alex Loo assessed the latest Politburo meeting, noting that despite acknowledged economic headwinds, no significant new stimulus measures were announced.
The emphasis remains on fiscal implementation — speeding up spending and the use of bonds to support the "Six Networks" infrastructure initiative. This suggests policymakers are prioritizing execution of existing plans over fresh large-scale injections.
At the same time, trade risks were flagged as a continuing concern, adding a layer of caution to the outlook. The overall tone points to incremental support rather than aggressive easing.
