Canada June CPI Seen Slowing to 2.9%, BoC Pause Likely Extended

Brown Brothers Harriman forecasts Canada's June headline CPI will slow to 2.9% YoY, with core measures also easing. This supports an extended pause by the Bank of Canada.

USDCAD

According to Brown Brothers Harriman (BBH) analyst Elias Haddad, Canada's June headline Consumer Price Index is expected to slow to 2.9% year-on-year, down from previous readings. Core inflation measures are also anticipated to ease, reinforcing the case for the Bank of Canada to maintain a pause in its rate hiking cycle. The softer inflation data could keep the Canadian dollar under pressure as markets price in a prolonged hold by the BoC.
