British Pound Holds Weekly Gains as Fed Hike Doubts Intensify

The British Pound steadied against the US Dollar on Friday and is on track to end the week with gains of over 1%, as traders grow skeptical of a September rate hike by the Federal Reserve. GBP/USD consolidates near the 1.3350 level.

GBPUSD

The British Pound held steady against the US Dollar on Friday, consolidating near the 1.3350 mark. Over the course of the week, the currency pair is poised to close with gains exceeding 1%.

Investor sentiment has shifted as doubts deepen over whether the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates at its September meeting. The expectation of a less aggressive Fed has supported the pound, pushing GBP/USD higher during the week.

The pair now awaits further catalysts, including upcoming US economic data and commentary from Fed officials, which could provide more clarity on the rate path.
