Brent Tops $100 on Trump-Iran Threats; Gold Plunges 2%

Brent crude rose above $100, its highest since May, after Trump threatened to escalate conflict with Iran following Houthi attacks on Saudi oil tankers. Treasuries fell, the dollar strengthened, and gold dropped nearly 2% to $4,050 as markets fully priced a Fed rate hike by September.

Brent crude surged past $100 per barrel, reaching its highest level since May, after US President Donald Trump threatened to intensify the conflict with Iran. The escalation follows Houthi attacks on two Saudi oil tankers, raising supply concerns in the Middle East.

The risk-off shift pushed Treasury yields lower and the dollar higher, with money markets now fully pricing a Federal Reserve rate increase by September. Gold fell nearly 2% to around $4,050 per ounce as the stronger dollar and rising rates weighed on the precious metal.
