Bitcoin Exchange Inflows Surge to 49,000 BTC, Historically Signaling Volatility

Daily bitcoin deposits on exchanges jumped to 49,000 BTC on June 30, a level that has historically preceded sharp price moves, according to CryptoQuant head of research Julio Moreno.

CryptoQuant data shows that bitcoin exchange inflows spiked to 49,000 BTC on June 30, with altcoin deposits also rising sharply. This marks only the fourth such extreme near 50,000 BTC since the start of the year.

According to Julio Moreno, head of research at CryptoQuant, these inflow levels indicate the market is absorbing a large volume of bitcoin being moved to exchanges — a pattern that historically has preceded significant directional price moves and periods of heightened volatility.

The increase in deposits is often interpreted as potential selling pressure, though Moreno's comment focuses on the historical correlation with volatility rather than a specific bearish or bullish outcome.
