Risk-Off Mood and RBA Tone Drag Australian Dollar Lower

The Australian dollar slid to the bottom of the G10 leaderboard overnight, reversing its recent top performance, as risk aversion and a dovish Reserve Bank of Australia stance weighed on the currency.

The Australian dollar was the worst-performing G10 currency overnight, according to Lee Hardman, currency analyst at MUFG. This marks a sharp reversal from its position as the best performer earlier in the session.

Hardman attributed the slide to a combination of risk-off sentiment in global markets and a cautious tone from the Reserve Bank of Australia. The shift in mood highlights the Aussie’s sensitivity to global risk appetite and domestic policy signals.
