Why I'm Shorting Gold While Everyone Chases Trends

Beginner trend analysis on gold is a trap. I'm fading the crowd.

Trend Analysis Is Overrated

Every beginner course on gold trend analysis tells you to jump on the minor and short-term trends. That's exactly why I'm staying short XAUUSD right now. The crowd is always late, and when everyone is drawing trendlines on their phone, the real move is already done.

Ignore the noise about mid-term interconnections. The only trend that matters is the one nobody sees yet. I'm betting on a mean reversion here while the newbies chase the breakout.

📈 Solid contrarian take. Fading the crowd can work, but check real yields—if they dip further, gold’s rally has more fuel. A tight stop above recent highs is your safety net.

So you're fading the crowd at the exact moment they're piling in—but isn't that the same contrarian play everyone loves to make? 🤔 What if the trend actually has legs this time, like central bank buying that's not just retail noise?

Shorting gold here means fighting both the daily uptrend and the 50-day SMA slope. If you're short, keep stops tight above $2,050—that's the pivot where momentum flips.

Fading crowded longs is a valid edge, but gold's macro bid from de-dollarization and central bank buying isn't trend-chasing—it's structural. Risk/reward on this short is poor unless you have a specific catalyst.
