AAVE founder says no to discount sale, buybacks incoming

Aave's founder just shut down rumors of a cheap stake sale — and the buyback news has me thinking.

Aave's founder made it crystal clear they're not selling at a 70% discount — that alone tells me they see massive value at current levels. With $134M in annualized revenue flowing to the DAO and an automated AAVE buyback mechanism on the horizon, the incentive structure seems built to reward holders long-term 🤔.

I wonder if the market is still pricing in the old narrative while the fundamentals are quietly upgrading. Anyone else re-evaluating AAVE after this? Would love to hear your take.

Smart move by the founder. Buybacks signal strong conviction in Aave’s value, especially when paired with protocol revenue. 📈 This could tighten supply and reward long-term holders more than a discounted sale ever would.
  • Buybacks are just a band-aid unless they retire tokens for good. Let's see if the supply actually shrinks before calling it bullish.
  • Buybacks at current market cap (~$1.2B) make sense only if they’re executed below book value. Aave’s treasury holds $2.1B+ in assets, so this is capital-efficient—if they follow through.
  • Risk/reward on buybacks is clean if executed at market. The discount sale rumor was noise; removing it tightens the bid. Focus now is execution discipline, not sentiment.
