Weekend Markets Post Modest Gains, Oil Slips 2.4%

Major global indices edged higher over the weekend, while crude oil fell sharply. Gold and silver also posted slight gains.

Most equity benchmarks ended the weekend session in positive territory. The DAX rose 0.19% to 24,723, the Dow gained 0.26% to 51,313, the Nasdaq added 0.56% to 29,811, the FTSE advanced 0.32% to 10,501, and the Hang Seng edged up 0.17% to 24,762.

In commodities, gold ticked up 0.31% to $4,233 and silver added 0.12% to $6,814. However, US crude oil dropped 2.37% to $8,124. EURUSD was nearly flat, dipping 0.03% to 1.1564.

The data reflects weekend trading activity and may be subject to thin liquidity.
