Trump Says Beirut Attack Should Not Have Happened, Urges Ceasefire for Peace Deal with Iran

President Trump stated that Israel's attack on Beirut was unnecessary and could disrupt a near-complete peace deal with Iran, urging all parties to stand down.

In a post on Truth Social, President Donald Trump commented on the morning's attack on Beirut, calling it unnecessary, especially given the progress toward a peace deal with Iran. He noted that the attack was in response to a "very small and meaningless" incident where nobody was hurt, and argued it should not derail the negotiations.

Trump emphasized that Israel has the right to self-defense but said the response was disproportionate. He called for no further attacks by Israel in Lebanon or by any other party, including Hezbollah, against Israel. He described the situation as potentially "the beginning of a long and beautiful peace" and urged all sides to avoid escalation.
