Trump: Iran Denies Charging Ships in Strait of Hormuz

President Trump says Iran told the U.S. it is not seeking tolls, insurance costs, or other charges on ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz, contradicting some media reports. He also states no money has been given to Iran, but some funds will be used to buy U.S. food for Iran.

President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that Iran has informed the United States it is not imposing tolls, insurance costs, or any other charges on ships traveling through the Strait of Hormuz, calling contrary media reports "troublemaking fake news." Trump added that if this information is false, negotiations would end immediately.

The post also addresses financial transfers, stating that no money has been given to Iran or released from its funds by the U.S. However, Trump indicates that some of Iran's money, which remains under U.S. control, will be released to American farmers and ranchers for the purchase of corn, wheat, soybeans, and other food items. These supplies, he says, will be purchased exclusively from the United States for Iran.

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical chokepoint for global oil shipments, and any disruptions or additional costs can affect crude prices. The market impact of Trump's statements is mixed, as they both deny immediate threats and hint at ongoing tensions.
