Sterling steady near 1.3458 as dollar recovers from intervention slide

GBP/USD traded near 1.3458 on Friday, holding most of Thursday's surge, as the dollar attempted to recover from a 30-day low after intervention flows weakened the greenback.

The pound edged 0.02% lower against the dollar on Friday, retracing a fraction of Thursday's gains. The move came as the U.S. currency attempted a rebound after heavy selling earlier in the week.

Thursday saw the dollar index tumble to a 30-day low, pressured by intervention flows that boosted the pound and other majors. At the time of writing, GBP/USD was virtually unchanged at 1.3458.
