RBA Governor Signals Possible August Rate Hike

RBA Governor Michele Bullock indicated that a rate hike could be on the table for the August 10–11 meeting, citing persistently high inflation.

AUDUSD

Reserve Bank of Australia Governor Michele Bullock has left the door open to a potential interest rate increase at the central bank's August 10–11 meeting, according to BNY's Geoff Yu.

Bullock stressed that inflation remains too high and highlighted concerns about productivity, suggesting the board is not yet ready to declare victory over price pressures.

The Australian dollar edged higher on the remarks as markets repriced the near-term rate path, with a hike now seen as a live possibility.
