PBOC Sets USD/CNY Reference Rate at 6.8067

The People's Bank of China set the USD/CNY central parity rate at 6.8067 on Wednesday, slightly lower than the previous fix of 6.8109, and below the Reuters estimate of 6.7795.

USDCNY

The People's Bank of China (PBOC) set the USD/CNY reference rate at 6.8067 for Wednesday's trading session, compared to the previous day's fix of 6.8109. This marks a slight strengthening of the yuan against the dollar.

However, the fix came in weaker than the Reuters estimate of 6.7795, suggesting the PBOC is guiding the currency more conservatively than market expectations. The central bank uses the reference rate to manage daily fluctuations within a 2% band.
