June US NFP Misses Forecasts at 57K, May Revised Lower

The June Non-Farm Payrolls report showed only 57,000 net new jobs, well below the 115,000 consensus estimate and May's downwardly revised 129,000 figure. Revisions also cut a total of 74,000 jobs from the prior two months.

The June Non-Farm Payrolls report came in at a disappointing 57,000 net new jobs, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This was less than the downwardly revised 129,000 jobs added in May and far below the 115,000 Dow Jones consensus forecast.

Revisions to previous months slashed 74,000 jobs from the original May and April figures, further softening the labor market picture. The weak data, coupled with the Fed appearing to pause rate hikes, suggests a cautious outlook for the US dollar.
