Iran-Houthi Threat to Bab el-Mandeb Pushes Brent Toward Crossroads

Brent crude faces a critical juncture after a Reuters report that Iran has instructed Houthi forces to prepare to close the Bab el-Mandeb strait if the US strikes Iranian power infrastructure.

XBRUSD

Brent crude is approaching a key level as geopolitical risk escalates in the Middle East. According to a Reuters report that markets digested on Friday, Iran has told the Houthis to be ready to shut the Bab el-Mandeb strait in the event of US strikes on Iranian power infrastructure.

The report also indicates that missiles and drones have already been positioned near the strategic waterway, awaiting orders from IRGC officers. Any closure of the strait would threaten a major chokepoint for global oil shipments, particularly for Gulf producers transiting to Europe and Asia.
