ECB September Rate Hike Still Possible, Commerzbank Says

Commerzbank economists led by Dr. Marco Wagner and Dr. Jörg Krämer expect the European Central Bank to leave rates unchanged in July but still deliver a 25 basis point hike in September.

Commerzbank economists, including Dr. Marco Wagner and Dr. Jörg Krämer, have stated that the European Central Bank (ECB) is expected to hold rates steady at its July meeting. However, they see a further 25 basis point rate hike as still possible in September.

The assessment suggests that while the ECB may pause in the near term, the tightening cycle is not necessarily over. The economists continue to view a September increase as a viable option, keeping the door open for further policy normalization.
