Dow Jones Holds Green as Chip Sector Craters

The Dow Jones Industrial Average stayed green on Tuesday despite a broad market selloff, but the underlying reason for its resilience raises concerns.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) managed to close in positive territory on Tuesday even as other major indices slumped. On the surface, this appears as a sign of strength, but the driver behind the green close is less flattering: the index's composition lacks exposure to the severely hit semiconductor sector.

This sectoral divergence means the DJIA's outperformance is not due to genuine bullish momentum but rather a structural quirk. The chip sector's steep decline pulled down tech-heavy benchmarks, while the Dow's industrial and financial components remained relatively stable, masking underlying weakness in the broader market.
